🕊️ Fear Not — Forgiveness Sets You Free

📖 Luke 17:4 “If he sins against you seven times in the day, and seven times returns, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.”

One of the most difficult and at the same time most emotional commands for a believer is forgiveness. When people hurt us, disappoint us, or even repeatedly act against us, our hearts cry out for justice. But Jesus shows us another way.

The Greek word for forgive is ἀφίημι (aphiēmi [a-FEE-ay-mee]). It means: to let go, release, send away. Forgiveness does not mean approving of evil or pretending that nothing happened. Rather, it means releasing the offender from our inner accusation and handing the right to take revenge over to God.

Jesus even speaks of forgiving seven times in one day. The number seven often represents completeness in the Bible. In this way, Jesus makes it clear: forgiveness should not be an exception, but an attitude of our heart.

📖 Ephesians 4:32

“And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.”

We do not forgive because the other person always deserves it, but because we ourselves have received undeserved forgiveness. Whoever has understood God’s grace can learn to extend that same grace to others.

Forgiveness does not first set the other person free — it sets your own heart free. Unforgiveness binds us to the pain of the past, but forgiveness opens the door for God’s peace and healing.

📖 Colossians 3:13

“Bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.”

Perhaps there is someone you are thinking about right now. Maybe the wound runs deep, and you feel that forgiveness is impossible. Then remember this: God never calls you to do something without also giving you the strength to do it. You do not have to walk this path alone.

Forgiveness is often not a one-time moment, but a conscious step that we may need to take again and again. Yet with every step, bitterness loses its power, and God’s peace gains more room in our hearts. The Holy Spirit can heal even the deepest wounds and accomplish what seems humanly impossible. Where you let go, God can begin to restore your heart and fill it with His love.

🙌 Therefore: Fear not — the Lord will not leave you alone on the path of forgiveness. He heals your heart, carries your pain, and gives you the strength to let go. What still seems impossible today can, through His grace, become a testimony of His healing love.
