🕊️ Fear not — Your security is in God’s hands

David begins this psalm not with his strength, his abilities, or his experiences. He begins with his trust in God. He knew that people can disappoint, circumstances can change, and our own strength is limited. But the Lord remains faithful.

Trust does not mean that we always understand what God is doing. Trust means that we know whom we have entrusted our lives to. This is exactly what Scripture invites us to do again and again.

“Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding.”
📖 Proverbs 3:5

Our understanding often sees only a small part, but God sees the beginning and the end at the same time. What is still hidden from us already lies open before Him. Therefore, we can trust Him even when we do not yet have an answer and cannot see the road ahead. We do not have to know everything in order to keep moving forward in peace. It is enough to know that the One who leads us knows the entire way.

The prophet Isaiah also reminds us that those who wait for the Lord receive new strength.

“But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles.”

This does not mean that difficulties will always disappear immediately, but that God can strengthen us in the midst of them and carry us through. Our security is not found in everything happening the way we expect, but in the truth that God will not abandon us.

Even when people misunderstand us or situations turn out differently than expected, we can know that our trust in God is never in vain.

“For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed.’”
📖 Romans 10:11

When David prays, “Let me never be disappointed,” his words express the assurance that God’s faithfulness is greater than every challenge. The Lord is a secure refuge for everyone who comes to Him. We may not know every step of our journey, but we know the One in whose hands our lives rest.

This very assurance gives us peace: Our security does not depend on how safe the road ahead feels. It rests in the faithfulness of the One who walks with us along that road.
