🕊️ Fear Not — You Are Known by God

Paul intentionally corrects himself in this verse. First he says, “you have come to know God,” and then he adds, “or rather to be known by God.” The foundation of our faith is not primarily that we found God, but that God found us. Our relationship with Him does not begin with our pursuit of Him; it begins with His love pursuing us.

📖 1 John 4:19 confirms this truth: “We love him, because he first loved us.”

In Scripture, the word “known” often speaks of a deep and personal relationship. God does not merely know our name or our actions. He knows our hearts, our thoughts, our struggles, and our future. Yet He has chosen to love and accept us. 📖 Psalm 139:1 says: “Yahweh, you have searched me, and you know me.”

Paul then warns the Galatians against returning to the “weak and miserable elemental principles.” They had discovered the freedom found in Christ, yet they were in danger of returning to religious systems, human effort, and spiritual bondage. Anything that draws us away from simple dependence upon Christ is ultimately poor compared to the riches of His grace.

📖 Colossians 2:8 warns: “Be careful that you don’t let anyone rob you through philosophy and empty deceit, after the tradition of men, after the elements of the world, and not after Christ.”

Those who are known by God do not need to earn His acceptance. The Father already knows His children and has welcomed them through Christ. Therefore, we can rest in His grace instead of returning to old fears, old bondages, or self-made ways of seeking approval.

📖 John 10:14 says: “I am the good shepherd. I know my own, and I’m known by my own.”

🙌 Therefore: Fear not — you do not need to earn God’s love, for He has already known you, called you, and welcomed you into His family through Jesus Christ.
