🕊️ Fear not — The Shepherd goes with you

At first glance, this verse does not sound particularly encouraging. Jesus did not promise His disciples that everyone would welcome them. He did not promise that their journey would be easy or that they would never face opposition. Instead, He spoke openly about the fact that they would be like lambs among wolves.

Yet this is precisely where we discover a wonderful truth. Jesus knew exactly where He was sending them, and still He sent them out. The difficulties along their path were no surprise to Him. He knew the opposition before the disciples ever encountered it. They did not go on their own initiative, but at the command of the One who had sent them and whom they could trust.

Again and again, we see in the Bible that God uses what is weak. David faced Goliath. Gideon stood with only a few men against a vast army. The apostles proclaimed the Gospel in a world that was often hostile toward them. Their strength was never found in themselves, but in the Lord.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

The world trusts in power, influence, and human strength. But God often works through people who know that they depend on Him. A lamb among wolves has no reason to trust in its own strength, but every reason to trust its shepherd. This very image reminds us that our security is not found in being stronger than everything we encounter. Our security is found in knowing to whom we belong.
“Yahweh is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing.”

Perhaps you are facing a situation right now that seems greater than your own strength. Perhaps you feel alone, misunderstood, or under pressure. But Jesus knows your path. He not only sees where you are today; He also knows what lies ahead. You do not need to possess today the strength you will need for tomorrow. Each day, you can rely anew on the One who leads you.

“Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.”

When the Lord sends you, you do not have to fulfill your calling in your own strength. His presence is greater than every opposition, His faithfulness stronger than every challenge, and His strength sufficient for every day. Even where you feel small and vulnerable, your Shepherd has not become smaller. Whatever seems greater than you is never greater than Him.

The lamb does not have to become a wolf in order to stand. It can remain a lamb because it knows who its Shepherd is.
