🕊️ Fear Not – Not Every Voice Comes From God

How serious this account is. The man of God had received a clear command from the Lord. God’s word was unmistakable. But then someone came who also appeared spiritual and even referred to an angel and to the name of the LORD. His words sounded convincing, familiar, and religious. Yet they were not true.

This story reminds us that God’s children should not follow every voice. What matters is not how spiritual something sounds, but whether it agrees with what God has said. Even words that seem convincing and familiar must never be placed above the truth that God has already revealed.

“But even though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you any ‘good news’ other than that which we preached to you, let him be cursed.”
📖 Galatians 1:8

Even a supposed angel must never overturn the Word God has already spoken. This is exactly why the Holy Spirit is so important in our lives. Jesus promised:

“However when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth.”
📖 John 16:13

The Holy Spirit does not lead us away from God’s truth, but helps us recognize it. When voices become confusing, he reminds us of what Jesus has said and directs our eyes toward him. Therefore, we do not have to live in constant fear of following something false. God has not left us without protection.

Scripture, however, tells us not to accept spiritual claims without testing them:

“Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God.”

Fame, persuasiveness, or spiritual language do not automatically make a statement true. The better we know God’s truth, the less dependent we become on how convincing someone appears or how extraordinary a spiritual claim may sound.

Jesus gives us a wonderful promise:

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”

Just as a sheep recognizes the familiar voice of its shepherd among other voices, we too can become more and more familiar with our Lord. His voice leads us to Jesus and never contradicts the truth God has revealed.

God does not lead his children into confusion, but into truth. Therefore, we do not need to run after every new voice. We can remain with him and trust that the Holy Spirit helps us distinguish truth from deception. Over time, instead of fear of false voices, our trust grows in the Good Shepherd whose voice we learn to recognize more and more.

🙌 Therefore: Fear not — remain with Jesus and his truth; the Holy Spirit will help you recognize his voice.
