🕊️ Fear not — God’s heart is full of compassion

This verse gives us a deep glimpse into the heart of God. In difficult times, people often ask, “Why does God allow this?” or “Does God take pleasure in my suffering?” The answer of this verse is clear: No. God takes no pleasure in afflicting people or causing them grief.

Jeremiah wrote these words in the midst of suffering, destruction, and judgment. Yet he recognized that God’s nature is not cruelty, but mercy. Even when God corrects us, He does not do so out of harshness, but out of love. His fatherly correction is meant to set us on the right path and help us grow, not to destroy us.

“For whom the Lord loves, he disciplines, and chastises every son whom he receives.”

Sometimes we do not immediately understand God’s ways. Yet His heart remains unchangingly good. A loving father does not rejoice in the pain of his children. In the same way, God does not rejoice in our suffering. Rather, His desire is to draw us closer to Himself and keep us in His love.

“Like a father has compassion on his children, so Yahweh has compassion on those who fear him.”

Jesus also showed us the heart of the Father. When He saw people, He was repeatedly moved with deep compassion. Whoever sees Jesus recognizes how God meets people: not indifferent to their suffering, but full of compassion.

“But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed and scattered, like sheep without a shepherd.”

Therefore, we can know that not every difficulty is a punishment, and not every suffering is a sign of God’s displeasure. In a fallen world, we encounter trials, struggles, and pain. Yet in the midst of it all, God’s heart remains full of compassion. He is near to the brokenhearted, strengthens the weak, and carries those who put their hope in Him.

“Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.”

Especially when we do not understand what God is doing, we can trust His heart. Our circumstances do not change His nature. Pain does not mean that His love has disappeared, and difficult times do not mean that our Papa has abandoned us. His compassion remains greater than what we can presently see or understand.

🙌 Therefore: Fear not — God’s heart is not against you, but for you; even in difficult times, His love remains unchanged and His compassion has no end.
