đď¸ Do Not Fear â Nourish Your Heart with Godâs Truth
đ Proverbs 4:17 âFor they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.â

This is a sobering picture. Solomon describes people who have become so accustomed to evil that it has become like food and drink to them. What should have been rejected has become their daily nourishment. The heart will always be shaped by what it is regularly filled with.
The Hebrew word for âwickednessâ is ר֜׊֡×ע â resha (REH-shah): âwickedness, godlessness, guilty wrongdoing.â In the context of this passage, Solomon describes people who have chosen the path of evil and are living more and more deeply in it. Evil is no longer merely something they encounter; it has become something they actually feed on. What we continually feed our hearts will eventually begin to influence our thoughts, our decisions, and our actions.
God therefore shows us a completely different source from which our inner being can receive nourishment.
âYour words were found, and I ate them. Your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart.â
đ Jeremiah 15:16
What a wonderful contrast: there is the bread of wickednessâhere is Godâs Word as nourishment for the heart. We cannot prevent the many voices that reach us every day, but we can be careful about which voice we allow the greatest place in our hearts.
Jesus also makes it clear that a person needs more than what merely sustains the body.
âMan shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of Godâs mouth.â
đ Matthew 4:4
True life does not come from what the world offers us, but from what God speaks. Therefore, the question is not only what we should avoid, but also what we choose to fill our hearts with. The Bible describes the person who delights in Godâs Word with a beautiful picture:
âHe will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that produces its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither. Whatever he does shall prosper.â
đ Psalm 1:3
A tree does not wait until the drought comes to decide where it will receive its water. Its roots are already connected to the source. In the same way, Godâs truth can become deeply rooted in our hearts every day. The more we know His voice, the easier it becomes to recognize voices that seek to lead us away from Him.
When Godâs truth becomes our daily bread, it changes our thoughts, our decisions, and ultimately our entire lives. What we receive into our hearts today can determine what kind of fruit will grow from them tomorrow.
đ Therefore: Do not fearânourish your heart with Godâs Word, for His truth gives your life good roots and shows you the right way.
